Episode 17: somewhere in India

Image
Episode 17 ("The Yellow Scarf Affair") have India as the adventure background. Everything seems to be exotic and/or suspicious. In the 1960 india was a kind of far away kingdom. The Beatles helped to bring India a little closer to the West a few years later, through their music. Summertime Blues: 15 August Movies That Didn’t Stink Posted on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 by  Lindsey Romain 13.  The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  (2015) There’s no reason for this Guy Ritchie-directed reboot of a ‘60s TV spy drama to work as well as it does. But the end result is an honest-to-god blast from start to finish. It’s a great end-of-summer movie, with its brisk and breezy action, cool humor, and zest for fun. Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer – who play rival spies that must come together for a joint mission – have a natural chemistry, and a then-unknown Alicia Vikander is excellent as their coconspirator. Though technically a box office bomb,  The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  has seen a recent reappraisal from movie buffs, who’ve come to recognize the film for its stylish diversion from typical studio fare. A sequel is allegedly in the works. To read the complete article click here . Much more about the  Man From UNCLE  in the  Open Channel D  book: Amazon.com

UNCLE 2015: How Tech Could Help Creators Look Before They Leap

Image
By Rob Enderle   Aug 14, 2017 11:08 AM PT I'm a big believer in simulation, particularly when it comes to designing a home or doing a major remodeling job. Cost overruns generally result from change orders, and they would be avoidable if you made those changes to the simulation and not to the project in progress. Movies in and of themselves are simulations, but there are far cheaper ways to create them than hiring live actors and going on location. Video game engines can be used to render a movie in close to real time, and fans have created some interesting videos. In  The Man from U.N.C.L.E. , there was no U.N.C.L.E. How do you make a movie with the name of the organization in it and not actually have it in the movie? A lot of what made  The Man from U.N.C.L.E.  TV series fun was the technology, the hidden office, and the characteristic quips, all of which were left out of the movie. A test audience should be able to point out problems like these -- but only if they

Movie Pilot: "6 Movies To Keep You Occupied While Waiting For 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle'"

6 Movies To Keep You Occupied While Waiting For 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle' 1. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Year:  2015 Director:  Guy Ritchie Cast:  Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  follows the story of a CIA agent and a KGB operative who join forces to solve the mystery of criminal organization which is working to proliferate nuclear weapons.  The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  was one of my favorite movies of 2015, but it seems weird how few people have seen the slick flick. Imagine  Kingsman: The Secret Service  without the Tarantino-esque action sequences. That's not to say  The Man From U.N.C.L.E.  has no action, but it is a slower burn than  Kingsman . Overall it's a smart action movie with some charming acting and wonderful set-pieces. To read about the other 5 movies in the list, click here .
